D-Day in Ohio 2011 - Downed Air Crew
I was privileged to be able to photograph three distinct scenarios at this annual event. The first involved downed Allied air crew who were rescued, and led away to safety, by members of the French Underground.
U.S. paratroopers arrived to contest a German held crossroads checkpoint.
The program began with the public spectators being introduced to a former aircrew member of Allied Bomber Command. This veteran performed the most remarkable and heartfelt rendition of the U.S. National Anthem that I have ever heard.
